Gay Bottoms, left, is the Election Chairman for the National Saanen Breeders Association. LaNell Lindell, center, and Charlie Currer, right, met Gay in Calvert, TX today at the local Dairy Queen to canvas the election ballots for the NSBA. Calvert was pretty much in the middle for all three committee members. About a 90 minute drive for each of them to help count ballots.
When you have all of your committee members over 60, they need all the help they can get to read the ballots correctly. Thank goodness for handheld magnifying glasses.
A record number of ballots were received by Gay and opened at the Dairy Queen and added to the stack of ballots that were sent to Gay by email. Election results are pending due to a tie in one district and we have to wait on the the tie breaking data which is," which member has been a member of the NSBA the longest."
Gay's husband drove her to the meeting since her right foot is in a cast. She slipped and fell, breaking her ankle and had to have surgery. Gay is a dedicated Saanen breeder to still get to her committee meeting to fullfill her Election Chairman duties.
After counting and tallying the ballots, the group had a Dairy Queen lunch. I personally enjoyed lunch and topped it off with a Candy Cane Chill Blizzard. Yum if you haven't tried one of those. Luckily it was an Up Day for me so I could eat whatever I wanted. Tomorrow is another story though.
